22-June-2011 Trimming the cab floor to size. The metal supplier did a good job shearing the 1/8" stell to size, leaving it a little bit oversize so I could clean it up. With the vise turned sideways and the moveable jaw on the outside, we are able to lightly clamp it to do small (0.010) skim cuts. We also had a reverse spiral cutter to use. The spindle rotation is in normal direction, but the reverse spiral puts the cutting force down in stead of up, forcing the metal into the vise. A normal spiral cutter would lift the metal up, which would pull the metal out of the vise jaws since it is lightly held.
